MASH – Copenhagen

Although the average blog trip schedule is packed with photoshoots I always make time for a few recommended restaurants or food events. Before take-off to Denmark, my friend and fellow blogger Larissa (From Hats to Heels) told me about this steakhouse in Copenhagen called MASH. Her enthusiasm made me curious and although her blog mainly showcases her love for fashion, this girl knows where to eat great food! On our final night in town we took a cab, only to discover that the restaurant is right around the corner of Nyhavn, the well-known colorful harbor of Copenhagen. A midnight walk through this stunning place was bound to happen, but first we would taste the finest of Nebraska, grilled up medium-rare in Copenhagen.MASH Copenhagen (by Dishtales)-3
With a wide selection of wines, delicious signature cocktails and (local) beers served in a (literally) frozen glass we were ready to discover the menu. Before ordering anything our hostess asked us if we were interested to see the basement. We walked down only to discover a proper wine cellar with hundreds, maybe thousands of French and American wines, and a long table in the middle of this beautiful space. Private dining and wining takes this hip and happening steakhouse to another level. Although I’m not generally a big fan of American wines, the sommelier shared his vast knowledge and served us some of his finest throughout all courses.

So atmosphere, exquisite (as always in Scandinavia) service and a healthy mix of a hipster, classic steakhouse and that typical Copenhagen laid-back dining vibe are all present. How about the food? Well as always I’ll show you guys every dish we’ve tasted. One thing about the menu that struck me most is how a classic American steakhouse menu is cleverly fused with local produce (read: seafood!) and it works so well! Our scallop, tuna tartar and other seafood starters totally complimented our good old onion rings, mash, medium rare steaks and the chefs classic cheesecake.

As you can imagine, after all these dishes we were in a comfortable food coma and ready for a long walk around the gorgeous city center neighborhood. Overall we had a fantastic night at MASH and I look forward to visit their London establishment as well. Pricewise it might be a bit expensive if you’re earning Euro’s. Then again, you’re eating premium steaks, receiving fantastic service in the heart of the city and last but not least, it’s Scandinavia guys! 😉 So make sure to save up some Euro or Dollar bills and treat yourself with a trip to foodie paradise!

A big thank you to our hostess at MASH, who not only offered excellent service, but was kind enough to show us the beautiful private dining/wining room downstairs as well. For more information, opening hours and reservations at MASH click here!

Also, we’d like to thank our friends at Help-PR for booking us a table on such late notice in a packed restaurant. See you next time in CPH guys!
